304L stainless steel pipe is a 300 series austenitic stainless steel with carbon content reduced to 0.030% on the basis of 304 stainless steel pipe, so it exhibits a lower corrosion rate than 304 steel pipe. But in most corrosive environments, the corrosion resistance of 304L steel pipe is the same as that of 304 steel.
304L austenitic stainless steel pipe has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and excellent welding performance. It does not require post weld annealing. Therefore, it is preferably used in environments where intergranular corrosion is prone to occur in welds and heat-affected zones of sensitive alloys. If you care about welding quality, it is recommended to choose 304L stainless steel instead of 304 steel.
304L seamless pipe has better heat resistance and is more resistant to carbide precipitation. It can be heated to a temperature range of 1148°C to 1260°C during forging.
The processing performance of 304L welded pipe is the same as that of 304 steel, and it can be stretched and formed. However, in order to eliminate the stress generated during processing, it should be annealed or stress relieved as soon as possible after processing.
The industry and application of 304L stainless steel pipe are the same as 304 steel, but it is recommended to choose 304L steel when the welding quality is the main factor.
