◆ Application
Both 410 vs 410S stainless steels are martensitic stainless steel coil.
410 stainless steel coil:
410 Stainless Steel Coil is a general purpose martensitic stainless steel for highly stressed components containing 11.5%-13.50% chromium sufficient to demonstrate corrosion resistance in mild atmospheres, steam and many mild chemical environments. Therefore, 410 martensitic stainless steel coil has good corrosion resistance as well as high strength and hardness.
410 Stainless Steel Coil exhibits maximum corrosion resistance when hardened, tempered and polished, and is available in a hardened but still machinable condition for applications requiring high strength and moderate heat and corrosion resistance.Suitable for general knife blades, cutlery (spoon, fork, knife, etc.).
410S stainless steel coil:
410S Stainless Steel Coil is a low carbon non-hardening variant of 410 Stainless Steel Coil.
The 0.15% carbon content of 410S martensitic stainless steel minimizes the formation of austenite at high temperatures, which limits the steel's ability to harden. Even with rapid cooling from above the critical temperature, 410S coils remain soft and ductile.
This non-hardening characteristic helps prevent cracking when 410S martensitic stainless steel coils are exposed to high temperatures or welded. 410S stainless steel coils are completely ferritic in the annealed condition and exhibit similar corrosion resistance and good oxidation resistance as 410 stainless steel coils.
