◆ Application
309 vs 309S stainless steel is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, which is generally considered a heat-resistant alloy and is mainly used in high-temperature scenarios. Due to the high content of chromium and nickel, 309/309S stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, excellent oxidation resistance and heat resistance, while providing good strength at room temperature and high temperature.
The only significant difference between hot rolled stainless steel coils of 309 vs 309S stainless steel is the carbon content. The carbon content of 309 stainless steel coil is 0.2%, while the carbon content of 309S stainless steel coil is much less, about 0.08%, which can minimize carbide precipitation and improve weldability.
309/309S hot-rolled stainless steel coils can obtain higher tensile strength and yield strength through cold working, which requires roll forming, stamping and stretching, and annealing method to reduce hardness and increase ductility.
309/309S stainless steel is used for its high temperature oxidation resistance, excellent high temperature strength and corrosion resistance in:
Heating element
Aircraft and Jet Engine Parts
Automotive Exhaust System Parts
Heat Exchanger
Sulphite treatment equipment
boiler baffle
